How bout this mini-tourney?

750pts @ 16 spots max.

tourney would be a MODIFIED SWISS/DANISH - STYLE tourney

first round would be round robin on 4 brackets (a, b, c, d). 4 players w/in brackets so that would be 3 games each already.

second round top 1  and 2 advances to quarter finals (reducing 16 to 8 players);players would be paired accordingly

third round winner of each pairings advances to semi-finals (reducing 8 to 4 players); players would be paired accordingly

fourth round finals winner vs winner

5 - 6 games played.... not bad for a mini tourney and value for the entry fee.

will be posting details soon ^_^x

@750pts that would be the idea - more games played (regardless of entry fee) = more gaming fun experience

i'd say 45mins - 1hr per game (a couple of mins. reserved for minor delays)

max 6 games = 6 hrs

if tourney starts at 9 - 10am ...will finish at 4 - 5pm

^_^x

Then the payment for the entry fee and the pairings thing should be settled as soon as possible :D

there would be pre-registrations prior to the event of course

and the pairings will follow the modified Swiss/Danish format so you can say that pairings are already set and pre-determined even if the tourney hasn't begun yet ^_^x

Fyi your brackets are set for single elimination. I don't recommend a single elim event. 16-8-4-final is fine but get ahold of a copy of DCI reporter, or MANTIS and run the event that way. You will generate tie breakers using opponant games played and win percentages. This will make ties really easy to resolve.

Standard rule if 1 hour per 500 points should apply. Play 45 min rounds, trust me you will have plenty of time. Make sure you include enough ways to prevent ties...ties bog down any brackets.

Sounds like fun. Make sure to play some Orks for me...yes they are broken at 750-1150!

thanks for the insight Kangor... well actually i think considering the number or games compared to a bigger points tourney, First rounds (brackets) will be juz fine compared to the random pairings from a software - giving the player/s minimum games played based on the famous DRTT which has 3-4 timed games...wherein most battles are ended at only turn 4-5 and sometimes less. the main objective of the Speed King pairing format is to have as many games played (considering the player turn out) as possible, if player turnout would be more than 16 souls.... the number of players per bracket will be adjusted thus giving an additional game/s on the round robin elimination first round, juz to accommodate the players wanting to join.

with regards ties/tie breakers.... the tourney format will be relying on point system (and not juz the killpoints we're talking bout here)  or "who beats who and how", like in basketball and sometimes chess tourneys. e.g. if X is tied with Y at 2pts a piece, but if X beat Y from their previous game/s, then X will have the upper ranking than Y. thus making a player who didn't LOSE all throughout the tourney is a guaranteed Speed King champ, remember a similar scenario ^_^x

WIN - 2 pts

DRAW - 1 pt

LOSE - 0 pt
