Chaos Space Marines Nurgle Army

hey,

Finally able to start painting my Chaos Nurgle Army, this is my current paint scheme.

Its a great experience working with small figures as i never really done this before. I practiced on a 3 pack starter set of chaos space marines before i started on these. i really enjoy painting and then adding washes, and dry brushing.

Can't wait to paint the next champion as i have a different backpack to work with. I think ill start with my Deamon Prince first.

If I can offer my advice: do the whole army and finish with the champs/single characters - training on the others will help you greatly.
I started my chaos army with my daemon prince and he turned up to be completely different from the others - now that I look back there's lots of things I'd like to change on him.

you could always remove the paint? :)

heh, yeah the shines from the gloss varnish, they are alot more darker but the flash on the camera lightens it right up.

normally matt armour is always better unless your doing nids, gems or nurgle with their nasty slim covered bodies.

love it, keep up the good work. BTW if your doing nurgle i suggest alot of experiments with green stuff to make your guys all the more unique.

yeah i wish they had matt armor i could brush on for other stuff, and i don't think they let me take spays on planes or shipping :(

no idea on how to really sculpt with green stuff but i like that idea, for now tho i have the metal death guard and some death guard bitz from forge world to help a little with the unique factor :)

oh! the shine is from citadel gloss varnish.

Just bought some green stuff for gap filling (man those obliterators have some bad casting parts) might try some basic stuff with my rhinos.

wish i painted more but i want to finish up all the modeling before i paint. however i did manage to get some done.

the Forgeworld kits are awesome, they also had those spiked helmets but i rounded em off, i just didn't like the look of it.

chaos black for base coat, goblin green after that, then depending on what i'm painting, if its a marine, i first use thraka green on the whole thing, then 2 coats of badab black. after its all done i use gloss varnish.

the rhino is, chaos black>goblin green>2 coats badab black.

dude come to Abu Dhabi on the 28-30 of april and your trip would all worth the while .... biggest event ever for wh40k/whfb scene in the middle east (fingers crossed). not being able to attend ADRTT + Comic Con = missing half of the great things in your life ^_^x

Lets see, Both Defilers done, took a break to greenstuff up a terminator this is the result

I tried to use matte varnish to tone down the gloss a bit and to make slime trails, I didn't work out well as I glossed him first then tried to matte around to make slime, I should have matte first and then glossed on slime. Will fix that later.

Currently finishing my 2nd rhino with washes again using a matte and gloss for more detailed slime. Will post as soon as its done.

While letting the rhino dry between washes i grabbed one of my favorite metal plague marines and tried what i had learned from the terminator and did a matte and then gloss on slime trails.

Really liked the finished result (still finishing the base)

Time to crush through all the rest of the troops, one colour at a time.

Cool to see it all coming along nicely.

One question though: what are the extra parts/bitz that you used to Nurglify your army? I see some Rhino doors, shoulderpads and the helm of the deathguards is also different?
