Lascannon+TL-Plasmagun on Razorback?

Lascannon+TL-Plasmagun on Razorback?

Hi guys again,

also a sort of WYSIWYG question + how-to-model-it question.

I like this configuration for the Razorback but it seems I'll have to get a saw and do some cutting and glueing in order to approximate this turret.

I'm thinking since I have too many left over plasma cannons from devastator kits (2x per box, which I don't intend on using), probably sawing off the frontal portion of the cannon and glueing it in place of one of the 2 lascannons on the original Razorback turret should be good enough?

I've never done such conversions myself so I'm a bit worried I'll botch it up. especially that I'll potentially have to make 3-4 of them for April.

Would such a conversion be necessary? or can I just say "all the TL-lascannon turrets are actually las/TL-plas turrets."?

And if you can share good conversions for this I'd be very thankful. I already saw a few. but would love to see what other people recommend. Thanks all.

The best would be to keep the Tlasc turret intact because it's a popular configuration that you migth want to play it later.
I'd grab one of the other turrets and convert it with a leftover Lasc and a Plasc from your devastator kit. This way you'd be able to magnetize them and switch as you need.

For WYSIWYG, as long as you don't use ANY other Lasc in your army you're fine saying "all TL-Lasc are Lasc-Plasc". Remember that conversions generally gives you extra points towards "best painted army".

as for switching turrets, the main problem is that the turret sprue is the scarce one.. gotta get 2 Razorback boxes to get 2 turrets :)

plus so far I've been pretty pleased with the results of the Las/TLplas! more fire power, more threat to the enemy. and if I face terminators I can shake a bigger stick with the plasguns. only need to stand still with the Razorback and be able to shoot with both weapons. very willing to trade that for a rerollable 1 shot that is BS4 anyway. or even 3 shots if within 12" ^^

I like the sawing off idea, but as for best painted army.. I don't think I'll be anywhere near that one with my still unprimed chaps lol.

we're using "plastic-grey camoflague" ;P

Here's the turret, needing a bit of cleaning up still. Not sure what to do with the feeder cable going bellow the Plasmacannon.. I had to cut it in order for the guns to be able to rotate horizontally to the limit. which is always a good default mode pose.

Not sure how to fix it in order to look better now.. greenstuff to link the feeder cable?

imho it would be better if you used the lascannon from devastator squad and 2 plasma pistols - cheaper and easy to get, unlike the TLLC turret and PC which are somewhat valuable if not that rare. nevertheless cool conversion juz dont use the blast template when shooting ^_^x

lol sounds like that hurt you deep inside. I know the feeling.

As for the plasma cannon.. I don't rate it that high honestly.. I'm CRAZY about missile launchers though.. worth their weight in gold each and every one.

And shame that each devo kit has 2x plasmacannons and only 1x missile launcher ;o( since I had 3 devo kits I had 6x plasma cannons I wasn't going nuts to use.

The TL-las turret is the only part that made me think twice. but.. like I said.. after a few games I am fully converted on the uberness of this config over the TL-las.

And I did consider the 2x plasmapistols route.. but man.... those pistols look like baby toy guns! I do have a ton of them... 3x per Space Wold sprue.. why would ANYone use that many? I don't have a clue.. it's not even possible to consume that many plasma pistols for SW infantry. unless you're giving them enmass to wolfguard in powerarmor?? (beyond me. maybe GW see something I don't.)
