How do you make combi weapons? lol

Hi all,

I've just started with 40k, I went with Space Wolves and played a few times to great success so far! these boys are cheeeesy good.

"We're capable of anything, that's the whole point of us."

Now my problem is trying to find combi-meltas to attach to my wolf-guard pack leaders.

So far the only source for those is from the space marine commander box? :( sounds a bit redicilous to buy 3 commander boxes just for the 3 combi-melta's.

Also for termi Wolf Guard combi-stormbolters.. where do you get those to begin with?? O.o

Do I have to worry "that" much about WYSIWYG for april's DRTT3? or can I just say "yeah these guys have combis btw" and be done with it?

thanks all. looking forward to coming back to dubai for 40k this time!

heres a lesson : hardly any kits come with combi weapons, the commander kit and he chaos terminator kit are the few i know of.

lesson 2: combi-plasma, take a plasma pistol (none should use them) file it down, glue to trimmed top of bolter, done.

google it if neccisary, theres loads of conversions.

Another simple trick that requires only patients. Use the left over spur bars and file and cut one down. You can also use clamer heads file off the little ignitor flame and just work it down a bit. I am sure you will need to show something approximating the weapon at any event you enter.

Unless they all have the same weapon loadout you need to represent the different weapons.

eg: if all your termi Wolf Guards have a combi-weap then you're good. If one of them doesnt then you need to represent the combi-weap as to to make sure there's no confusion.

thank you swarmlord and kangor for the suggestions!

I don't know about sculkpting my own weapon out of a spur bar hehe I'm no michael angelo :)

I think the most feasible conversion was this one:

http://www.thehogsofwar.com/2009/10/easy-combi-melta-conversion.html

problem is the meltaguns bitz from GW are metal aren't they? I guess it should still work. it wouldn't look strikingly different from a normal meltagun, but it's something.

and @Noxy, thanks for the clarification. I do intend to have 3x wolfguard as pack leaders with a combi-melta and a powerfist each. all identical. however there will be other marines in the squad (greyhunters) who'll be carrying a normal meltagun. as a greyhunter looks exactly the same as a wolfguard, I guess this might not be clear enough for an opponent?

sigh.. fantasy's sooo much simpler in WYSIWYG hehe

i was pretty sure you said "combi-plasma" before hence swarmlord's reply

anyways here's an almost identical conversion http://genesis40k.blogspot.com/2010/10/simple-combi-plasma-conversion.html

with regards grey hunter and wolfguard looking identical...how bout painting their weapons differently - say gold for wolfguards and silver for greyhunters, problem solved ^_^x
