On October 28th and 29th, Dubai Festival City and Living Rooms Cafe will play host to the largest miniature wargaming event to be seen in the history of the UAE. The event will run through the entire weekend, from 10am to 7pm each day! Not only will there be plenty of incredible activities for wargaming enthusiasts but this event will be completely open to the public and we encourage anybody who has even the smallest interest in the Warhammer universe to attend because there will be something here for you.
For all of you who are completely new to Warhammer, it started in the 80's as a tabletop battle game and has since grown to a phenominal scale thanks to an enthusiastic fanbase and constantly expanding universe. The hobby involves many activities, the most promenant of which being painting and gaming. All miniatures are assembled and painted by the players before participating in battles with friends and other like-minded wargamers in a game comparible to chess though on a larger scale. Some people don't don a tactical mindset and instead relish the challenge of painting. Some prefer to immerse themselves in a universe rich in fiction and fantasy through the many novels and books related to the game. There are so many things to enjoy surrounding the hobby and you might not even know you have an interest yet.
Warhammer's fiction may have the largest track record for having its source material liberally borrowed and used as the basis of many an idea. We've all heard the name Space Marine and seen the hundreds of spin offs of these characters, but so many other elements of Warhammer can be seen throughout our culture. The aliens in the Alien franchise, the bugs in Starship Troopers, Starcrafts Terrans and Zerg. Warhammer has had its own time in the spotlight, featuring many video games based on its source material, the most notable of which being the Dawn of War series. Now it's venturing into the realm of the 3rd person shooter with Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine. Pair that with the animated film Ultramarine that came out earlier this year and you can see that Games Workshop are opening up the universe to a whole host of potential fans. You could be one too!

At this years Dubai Red Tent event, there will be a huge host of activities focused on letting anybody immerse themselves in the hobby regardless of skill or prior knowledge! In conjunction to the tournament held for existing players, a large host of people will be running many activities for those who have never even encountered miniature wargaming before. Painting demonstrations and workshops will be performed to teach first time painters how to paint free miniatures availabe on the day. Demonstrations of a variety of miniature wargames will be given to anybody with an interest in tackling the strategic element of the hobby. Finally, we'll have many console systems on which people can play the new Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine game, allowing them to fight virtual battles parallel to those on the tabletops.
Amongst all these activities there will be raffles held for those who participate in any events, leading to prizes being given away just for attendance! There will also be speed painting competitions for anybody who reckons they have the skill to paint a Space Marine in under 10 minutes! Plus you could be in with a chance to win something whilst playing the latest Warhammer 40,000 video game in Living Rooms Cafe! So why don't you drop by!
